Kenya: MoH meets Public Service Commission to reorganize health sector

The Ministry of Health in the Government of Kenya has recently hosted a meeting with the public service commission of the country. They seek to address critical matters about the Ministry of Health and its reorganization. The meeting took place on July 19, 2023. Cabinet Secretary Nakhumicha S. Wafula led the Ministry of Health during the session.

The Principal Secretary of the State Department of Medical Services, Harry Kimutai, and the Principal Secretary of the State Department of Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, accompany the Cabinet Secretary in the Government of Kenya.


The team had a consultative meeting with the Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Ambassador Antony Muchiri, and the commissioners.

The Ministry of Health and Public Service Commission hosted the to address critical matters about reorganizing the Ministry of Health. They want to ensure the realignment of the same with Executive Order 1/2023 by President of Kenya William Samoei Ruto.

The Cabinet Secretary presented the Government’s agenda for delivering Universal Health Coverage. They also mentioned the agenda for Universal Health Coverage in The Plan. During the meeting, the attending members and stakeholders of the Ministry of HealthEmphasizing the importance of efficient implementation. Accordingly, both the commission and the Ministry expressed their commitment to fast-track the completion of the organization structure.

They also stated that they want to resolve all pending HRH issues in the health sector promptly. The Ministry of Health shared a post on its social media account detailing the proceedings of the meeting that took place on Wednesday, June 19

This collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health and the Public Service Commission marks a crucial step towards enhancing healthcare services and ensuring that the health sector operates efficiently and effectively in providing quality care to all citizens.
