A lady has allegedly beaten her daughter, Salome, to death. The police has identified the culprit as Yvonne Mulango. She is a resident of the Hausa Quarters neighbourhood in Kumba II Subdivision, Meme division of the Southwest region. The child, aged about 4, died in the morning of Friday, June 2, at a health facility in Fiango.

The dėceased is said to have destroyed a partnership card belonging to the mother. The incident provoked the anger of her mother. Sources reveal that the lady used a hot charcoal pot on Tuesday to burn her daughter’s hands. The reason for the same is that she tore the partnership card. This caused the child to be ill.

The woman noticed she was weak and took her to the hospital the next day. Here, the doctors tested the child and asked the mother to buy medicines. On returning home the same day, her health deteriorated. Frightened, the family rushed the girl to another health facility nearby, where medics administered treatment to her.

During the medical examination, the doctors discovered that the child was suffering from internal bleeding. Authorities believe that the severe beatings that the victim got from her mother caused the serious issues. Efforts by medics to save her life were futile, as they later pronounced her dead. When the population got news of the tragic incident, their reaction was spontaneous.

Spearheaded by commercial motorcycle riders, the people of Southwest region stormed the lady’s residence to equally pull out life from her. However, she survived due to the timely intervention of the forces of law and order. The authorities took her to the Second Police District, Fiango. Meanwhile, they took the mortal remains of the deceased child to the Kumba Regional Hospital Annex mortuary pending burial arrangements.

The Police have opened investigations. The authorities will bring and arraign the suspect before the law courts in the days ahead to answer to charges of her alleged crime.
