The editor of the international newspaper, Afrique International, Philip Thomas shared his disappointment over the Purported Bloodshed in Ona, Eastern Obolo and Ikot Abasi. The incident was gruesome and disturbing. He shared that he recieved an unbelievable video allegedly of brothers killing one another in our dear state of Akwa Ibom. In one of the videos, it had people kill and slaughter others like cows. They had their heads cut off, their limbs cut off and their vital organs harvested on camera.
Those who perpetuated this heinous crime had their faces on camera. It looked more like a ritual abattoir than a conflict scene. He shared that the last time he saw such a horrific scene was when I was a teenager during the Andoni vs Ogoni fights.Â
He further added that he made tens of calls to unravel why brothers would kill each other in such a barbaric manner. Philip Thomas shared that all the responses he received referred to the issue of the remapping of Akwa Ibom state. Further, He shared that the Andoni-Ijaw brothers in Eastern Obolo live in peace with their Ibibio neighbors. Accordingly, he questioned, What may have caused this purported soreness in their relationship?
Meanwhile, The incident severely affected the media personality. Accordingly, he demanded answers on the motivation behind such an incident taking place. He stated that he needed answers! Akwa Ibom has always been known for peace. Uyo is currently rated the most serene and peaceful city south of Niger and we cannot allow a few cannibalistic individuals to denounce that rising status.
He questioned, What is happening in Ona, Eastern Obolo and Ikot Abasi LGA’s? Did Udom do anything with a recent remapping law to upset these communities against themselves? Are there other reasons why we would have this callous bloodshed? What are the possible solutions?
Philip Thomas claimed that he wants answers. We cannot let this go on if truly it is factual.
