While speaking during the Passing Out Parade of the Regular Course 4/2016 Cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, the President highlighted that policies and actions of the government has made a positive impact on the three areas, despite of many challenges they faced.
He said this administration came to office committed to making an effect in three main areas: security, creating a sustainable economy and fighting against corruption. We can state that recent positive outcomes in these areas have shown that despite the challenges on the ground, we can see all-around improvement in all three areas.
In the area of corruption, President Buhari is determined to ensure that we do not have a repeat of what has gone on in prior administrations, and we have taken a strong stand against continued corruption.
This administration has also focused on security by repositioning our national security to perform its duties effectively. We have equally embarked on some important changes in their structure, funding and modes of operation.
With the establishment of the Police Trust Fund, this administration swung into complete action after taking the assessment of requirements for possible interventions in the provision of logistics and infrastructural needs of the Force,” he said.
According to the President, Muhammadu Buhari, the Boko Haram insurgency, Eastern Security Network, the Indigenous People of Biafra, and banditry in a few parts of the country over time, which posed a major threat to the nation, had been significantly degraded, and relative normalcy had been returned to most towns and villages.
He also commended the efforts and resilience of members of the Nigeria Police Force and sister agencies for the giant strides recorded so far in the fight against the prevailing security challenges.
Around the North Central and North West of the country, significant progress have been made with regards to stemming the tide of communal violence, farmer-herdsmen clashes, cattle rustling, and kidnapping.
