The Permanent Secretary in the office of the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Glenroy Blanchette headed the delegation of St Kitts and Nevis during the forty-fifth regular meeting of the CARICOM Heads of State. During their trip to Trinidad and Tobago to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the CARICOM, the St Kitts and Nevis delegation met several regional and international persons of prestige.
During of these meetings, Permanent Secretary Blanchette met and interacted with the diplomat of South Korea, Duck-Soo Han. At the start of the interaction, the diplomat extended his sincere condolences to the Prime Minister in his trying time. He expressed his sympathy with the Prime Minister and his family during the difficult time.
Notably, Dr Terrance Drew’s father and remarkable musical artist of St Kitts and Nevis, Michael “Mick Stokes” heylinger died on July 3, 2023. The Prime Minister and his family, including his sister are recieving condolences from across the caribbean during their time of grief.
Meanwhile, the diplomat of South Korea, Duck-Soo Han talked to the delegation regarding various bilateral issues. He applauded the 40 years of diplomatic relationship of the two countries. The diplomat asserted that the two nations have a lot of opportunities to increase cooperation. the two countries can partner together in various areas.
The diplomat claimed that they have several cooperation opportunities in private and public sector. Permanent Secretary Glenroy Blanchette hailed Korea as a shining example of success. At the same time, he took the opportunity to express gratitude on behalf of the Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew, the Government, and the people of St Kitts and Nevis for the continuous support.
Korea has provided support to St Kitts and Nevis, in various areas. These include health and education. Meanwhile, PS Blanchette also spoke of St Kitts and Nevis vision to make Saint Kitts and Nevis the first Sustainable Island State.
