Nevis Department of Gender Affairs to celebrate Intl Women’s Day

Department of gender affairs in Nevis is celebrating International Women’s Day. The department has invited the people of Nevis to nominate the exemplary women in their community for the International Women’s Day 2023 Nominations. The Ministry of Gender Affairs is hosting an event celebrating International Women’s Day. 

UNESCO has designated March 8 as International Women’s Day. The day aims to celebrate women and their achievements in all walks of life. For the 2023 edition of the celebration, the Department of Gender Affairs has announced the theme of ‘DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.

Meanwhile, the senator with Ministerial responsibility for Gender Affairs took to her social media account to share the details of the celebration event. Jahnel Nisbett wrote on her social media account. It’s almost that time to publicly recognize some of the amazing women in our society! Nominate that exemplary woman in your community TODAY! 

Further, she also shared some details of the event with the people of Nevis. The Department of Gender Affairs is inviting the general public to complete applications for exemplary women or women in our community. The Department asked people to nominate a woman who has done something extraordinary or has overcome great obstacles, or served as a mentor or inspiration for others in the following categories:

  • Women In Science
  • Digital Economy Blue Economy
  • Green Economy
  • Orange Economy
  • Women in Non- Traditional Roles

The update further clarified that the interested persons could apply by collecting a form at the Department of Gender Affairs before the deadline of February 10, 2023

Meanwhile, Minister Jahnel Nisbett urged the people to get in touch with the Department in case they need to gather more information about the event. 

The Department of Gender Affairs commemorates International Women’s day in line with the executive government’s commitment to introduce efforts towards ensuring gender equality in the various departments.
