Sokoto Police enlist media to maintain peace ahead of polls,financial help to bereaved police families

The Commissioner of Police Sokoto State police command, CP Muhammed Usaini Gumel psc, has urged the media to continue to run public enlightenment campaigns to ensure peaceful elections in 2023. Further, they have provided financial assistance for bereaved police families.

Doing this, the Commissioner of Police is working towards ensuring that the people of Sokoto state can get a peaceful environment. This is keeping in line with his promises of giving the state’s people the capacity to conduct hitch-free political campaigns and 2023 elections.

Further, The Commissioner of Police reminded all media stations to keep releasing the audio, and video jingles rolled out by the police command. This will help the authorities involved in the state to keep sensitizing members of the public against hate speeches and violent approaches.

Meanwhile, the State Police Command further urged the members of the public, especially political players and leaders, to advise their members to adopt sportsmanship ideas.

Further, The police command urged the individuals to note that Politics is not a do-or-die affair. The police command of the Sokoto state believes that there is life after the forthcoming elections.

In an official statement on behalf of the Police Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto state, the police authorities addressed the public.

In the statement, the Sokoto state command stated that the public should note that the police command is in conjunction with the relevant security agencies in the state. Further, the police command will not relent to ensure the peaceful conduct of electoral processes.

The Sokoto command has committed to the strict enforcement of the extant laws, especially the electoral act, as amended in 2022.

Meanwhile, another development regarding the Sokoto police command has come to light. Recently, the police command, in line with the “Group Life Insurance initiative”, aimed at improving the capacity and welfare of the families of police officers that lost their lives in the line of duty.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police, also in Charge of the Administration and Finance of the Sokoto state Command, “DCP Adamu Ibrahim”, started the initiative. Under the initiative, the Deputy Commissioner of Police presented cheques worth Three Million, nine hundred and ninety-seven thousand naira N3,997,000 to three bereaved families. The benefactors were families of Police officers who lost their lives while in active service.

The handover took place on November 30, 2022. DCP Adamu Abrahim attended the event on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba.

During the presentation, the DCP consoled the bereaved families. He stated that the Command share their pains for losing hardworking and dedicated officers.
