Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew extended greetings to the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell, on the occasion of their 50th Independence Anniversary under the theme, “One People, One Journey, One Future.”
While talking about the theme, he further said that the theme in itself sums up the shared vision of the people in the Federation. It displayed the collective efforts of the citizens and their resilience, which will support the nation in its growth.
PM Drew expressed his wishes for the continuous development of Grenada and observed that the country’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions and warm hospitality inspire people around the world.
It is to be noted that the prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis took to his official social media handle (Facebook) to send a greeting to the Grenadines.
“Today it brings me great pleasure to extend congratulations to my dear friend Hon. Dickon Mitchell and the people of Grenada, as you celebrate half a century of resilience, unity and progress as Grenada marks its 50th year of Independence under the inspiring theme “One People, One Journey, One Future”, added PM Drew.
He further urged people to honour the sacrifices and milestone achievements that have helped the country in its progress.
“As you reflect on the remarkable journey of the past five decades, I urge you to honour the sacrifices and achievements that have shaped Grenada into the vibrant nation it is today”, remarked the leader of St Kitts and Nevis.
He also congratulated his friends and partners in Grenada on their milestone achievements and wished them good luck for even greater successes in the forthcoming years.
Additionally, the ECCB Staff and other Grenadines started their Independence Day with a Flag Raising ceremony on February 7. Moreover, a virtual flag-raising ceremony was held by the OECS Commission to commemorate Grenada’s 50th Independence Day.
The main highlight of the Independence Day celebrations was a military parade and the cultural show, which were organised at the National Stadium in St George’s.
Noting this, many Caribbean leaders attended the event, such as Dominican Prime Minister- Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia- Philip J Pierre, and St Kitts and Nevis leader- Dr Terrance Drew, among others.
