Popular Nigerian singer and actress Simisola Kosoko, professionally known as Simi, has recently taken to her social media to express her disappointment over the controversial election widely characterized by violence, voter suppression, rigging and vote buying. The entertainment personality shared that the government should have given the N300 billion budget to use for the purpose of development in the health and education sector.
The amount was originally allocated to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the conduct of the 2023 general elections. However, According to Simisola Kosoko, the amount would have served a better purpose if it were invested in the education and health sectors.
The popular actress and social media sensation made this observation through her Twitter account. She wrote that it would have been better if the government had channelled the billions used for the presidential and governorship elections to fix schools and hospitals.
The Joromi crooner expressed utmost displeasure over the elections conducted by INEC. In line with the stance, Simi stated that the electoral body could have just simply saved resources and time by pointing to the candidate of their choice. With this, she called out the INEC for their supposed unfairness while hosting the elections.
She wrote; “300 billion naira budget for this joke of an election @inecnigeria you might have as well given them back the money to fix some hospitals and schools and just used finger to point at the people you wanted to select.

Additionally, the Nigerian celebrity also expressed her disappointment over the people who accepted the results of the elections and did not condemn the proceedings. She asked them not to “pray for Nigeria”
