The news of the splitting up of Waka Waka fame ‘Shakira‘ and Spanish professional footballer ‘Gerard Piqué‘ have blown shock waves among their fans.
The couple has been together for twelve years, and on Saturday, 4 June, they announced their split.
The 45-year-old Colombian superstar Shakira’s “Hips don’t Lie” song is one of the largest names in the world music industry and has sold over 60 million albums.
The couple released a statement saying, “We regret to inform that we are splitting.”
“For the well-being of our sons, who are our highest priority, we request that you respect their privacy. Thank you for being so understanding.”
The couple’s split also means that their joint assets and fortune will also be divided.
As per the media Celebrity Net Worth, Pique’s fortune is estimated at around 80m euros, while Shakira’s assets are 300 million euros.
These figures will not be changed because they were not married, and the properties they purchased before their relationship will also not be split.
The Colombian singer holds a mansion in Miami worth 13m euros, and the footballer has a three-storey house in the centre of Barcelona, estimated at 4.5m euros.
The main problem is the properties or capital that they both obtained together during their relationship.
The couple has two sons together, Sasha and Milan.
As per the sources, the two have already hired specialised lawyers to begin the paperwork and also to start the process of the custody of their sons.
The couple owns various assets together, such as a house that they purchased in 2012, located in Esplugues de Llobregat, worth 4.5m euros. Later, in 2015, they bought another house near Camp Nou, for which they paid around five million euros. These are the only two properties that they will now need to divide.
