Another gruesome day of cross-examination for Sergeant Thabo Johannes Mosia by lawyer Zandile Mshololo, representing accused number five, disclosed to the court that the crime scene was cleaned before the arrival of police officers at the scene.
Advocate Mshololo presented evidence in court on Monday and alleged that the crime scene might have been fiddled between the time of shooting time that it took Mosia to come to the scene.
On Monday, June 6, the statements presented in court by advocate Mshololo (statement 180 and statement 181 by an anonymous witness) detail events where a woman only directed to Ma Phiri cleaned and removed beer bottles from the scene.
In a statement submitted to the court, a witness said Ma Phiri had cleaned because she did not want any evidence of the drinking in the house.
The detailed events in the statements are stated to have happened before Sergeant Mosia arrived at the crime scene, which he found challenging to acquire directions from, causing his delay.
When asked by Mahololo if he investigated the car of the dead for blood stains or the length it had travelled on the night he was killed, Mosia disclosed that he failed to investigate the car of the deceased, which could have been part of the crime scene given that the exact vehicle was used to transport him to Botselong Hospital.
South Africa international and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was fatally shot dead on October 26, 2014, after trying to protect his girlfriend, singer Kelly Khumalo from intruders in Vosloorus.
Advocate Malesela Teffo has often claimed that Meyiwa passed at the home of Khumalo and not in the hospital as believed.
Also facing the killing charge for the demise of Meyiwa are Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli.
The trial still continues.
