The son of Oba Abdulahi Okunloye, the Olofa of Ofatedo, Prince Yinusa Okunloye, has been murdered by a suspected cult group.
The 43-year-old Okunloye was killed during the early hours of Saturday, July 23, 2022, at his house in Ofatedo, Egbedore, a local government area of the Osun State of Nigeria.
His neighbours have revealed that the prince was called out of his residence around midnight on Saturday and was later shot in the chest.
Because of this incident, fear has gripped the hearts and minds of several people in the community as some men in a car welding guns were seen around 8 am on Saturday around the Ofatedo region.
There was also a roadblock around 8 am in the same community while many businesses had to shut down for the day due to the brutal incident.
SP Yemisi Opalola, the Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident on the evening of Saturday.
She said that a group of three suspected cultists invaded the Olofa street, Ofatedo, as well as called Okunloye, out of his house and shot him directly in his chest.
Opalola revealed that the prince later gave up the ghost, and his corpse was removed and sent to UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital mortuary for further autopsy.
Opalola further added that no arrest had still been made, but she vowed that the killers of the prince would be caught and arrested soon.
Investigations are in the process of finding the gang and knowing the reason behind the killing of Prince Yinusa Okunloye.
