The young woman, who remains unnamed for privacy reasons, had reached a desperate point in her life after being abandoned by her boyfriend, who denied responsibility for her pregnancy.

“My trouble started after I got pregnant for my boyfriend, who subsequently denied the pregnancy and abandoned me,” she recounted.
“I haven’t received any prenatal care and don’t even know the gender of my baby because I cannot afford to visit a clinic. Life has been incredibly hard, and I feel completely alone with no family support.”
