A gang of terrorists said to belong to the Dogo Gide terrorists’ group shot down a military helicopter Monday afternoon. The incident happened in Chukuba, Shiroro, the local government area of Niger state. The media or police officials have not shared any casualty reports due to the incident.

The Dogo Gide terrorist group, according to reports, operates in the forest in Zamfara, Niger and Kaduna states.

Some reports suggest that immediately after the terrorists shot down the helicopter, the military responded by bombarding the positions of the terrorists, killing many of the bandits in the process.

Terrorists who shot down a military helicopter in Niger belonged to the belonging to Dogo Gide’s camp.

The military’s reaction to this ordeal has caused panic around Chukuba town. The incident’s aftermath has led to hundreds of villagers flocking to Erena for safety. The incidents of terrorism in the country are not in any way new. The country’s people are experienced in dealing with insecurities and similar situations.

However, media reports have suggested that the country’s people are in a state of panic. The Co-convener of the Concerned Shiroro Youth, Comrade Abubakar Yusuf Kokki, confirmed the story. He has also spoken to the media providing significant updates regarding the incident. He claimed, “There is panic and fear among the people.”

“The people are moving in large numbers to Erena for safety,” Kokki said.
The Army in Minna has not commented on the attack.

However, heavily armed soldiers in several trucks were noticed in Minna on Monday evening moving towards Kundu town in the Rafi local government area, where 13 soldiers and some men of the local vigilante group were killed on Sunday afternoon.

Further, the media reports suggest that the soldiers killed not less than 50 of the terrorists during the attack on the terrorists‘ vehicle.
