PM Drew addresses at 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States 2024

Prime minister of St. Kitts and Nevis Dr.Terrance Drew participated in a high level side event of 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States 2024 on Tuesday.

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime minister of St. Kitts and Nevis Dr.Terrance Drew participated in a high level side event of 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States 2024 on Tuesday.

It was held at conference venue, Room-6 which is being hosted by CIwiL (Caribbean women in Leadership) on the subject of “Re-aligning climate finance: Accelerating equal access and inclusion “.

During the session, Prime minister Dr. Terrance Drew addressed to the dignitaries regarding government’s vision of transforming St. Kitts and Nevis into a model sustainable island state for the benefit of all the people of country.

He also focused upon education, awareness activities which is necessary at all levels of society to increase action which will bring impact on lives, livelihoods and the environment. Specifically, he focused upon ensuring that at every stage there is a connection – from the grass root level upwards.

Other such dignitaries also witnessed the international Conference by CIwiL, included Samantha Marshall – Minister of Social Transformation, and Human Resource Development, Youth & Gender Affairs – Govt. of Antigua and Barbuda, Therese Turner Jones – Vice President (AG) Caribbean Development Bank and. Dianne Quarless- Director ECLAC – Caribbean, the conference is moderated by L.Nana Oye Hesse-Bayne – President of CIwiL.
During the commencement of 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4)

Dr.Terrance Drew engaged with several high level dignitaries who focused upon the various matters such as existential threats posed by sea level rise and hence ensuring of the critical importance to SIDS and hence working out with solution to resolve the issue of detrimental effects of rising sea levels.

Further discussion followed up with the focused development and prosperity of SIDS, discussed critical issues such as water, sargassum, energy and financing opportunities.

Held meeting to discuss upon specific agenda to strengthen Caribbean-EU partnership where Dr.Terrance Drew highlighted the critical need for innovative financing mechanisms to address the pressing issue of climate change in the Caribbean.
