PM Drew walkthrough construction sites at St Peter’s Main Road, FT Williams Highway

PM Terrance Drew visited the Road Rehabilitation Project sites at St Peter’s Main Road and FT Williams Highway to cross-check the progress made since the beginning of the construction phase.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew visited the Road Rehabilitation Project sites at St Peter’s Main Road and FT Williams Highway to cross-check the progress made since the beginning of the construction phase. The work was commenced on the sites a while back. 

PM Drew, who is also elected Parliamentary Representative for the area as well, expressed his delight as the work is being done to a great extent that enables the heavy machinery to carry out their operations.

“This work has been going on for over a year, but of course, the heavy equipment that we are seeing here can only come in after the designs, the engineering and all those other things would have been done. So now we are hoping to complete this road within a year and resolve the issues of the main road and access to the area of St Peter’s”, added PM Drew.

The walkthrough of both sides offered an opportunity for the contractors to outlines the requirements that are needed to ensure the smooth rollout of the project.

The government of St Kitts and Nevis has collaborated with Rock & Dirt Limited for the construction of St Peter’s Main Road and FT Williams Highway. The Owner, Alexis Hazel ensures that their team is working diligently and assures that they will be adopting every possible measure for the completion of work within the projected time. 

Keeping this in mind, they are cutting the hilly part of the road to make it wider open, so that there is space for about 50 cars.

Since there will be four roads that will lead to the Round-a-Bout, the developers and builders are designing the road in a way that will be relevant for years to come.

He further added that by next week, they will commence the work at several other places, including Ogees Ghaut, to increase the project’s efficiency.

The leader of St Kitts and Nevis urged public to cooperate with them as due to the construction, they might face the problem of disruptions to traffic flow. Due to this, they will install sidewalks and road safety studs, also known as cat’s eyes to bringing the road up to international standards. 

The citizens around the country lauded the untiring efforts of PM Drew and his government to ensure the basic necessity of their residents.
