Bauchi State joined hands with Beijing Forestry University on Forestry Development

The meeting will benefit the forestry department of Bauchi and will generate jobs as well

Bauchi state executive Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, alongside Commissioner of Ministry of Housing and Environment Danlami Ahmed Kawule, attended a meeting with the stakeholders on forestry development and capacity building for Public officials took place at the China General Chamber of Commerce in Abuja.
The one-day bilateral meeting with the officials of Beijing Forestry University was to initiate strategic cooperation between the Nigerian states with rich forest reserves and the university. The main aim of the meeting was to share knowledge on how could the Nigerian states leverage their forest reserves to generate revenue and create maximum jobs.
As the meeting proceeded, the Commissioner, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, said that this was a great opportunity for Bauchi. He further raised his concern about the environment; the main aim is to seek modern preservation techniques, more on soil restoration, afforestation and strategic plans to protect the earth and its people, the byproduct of which will be new jobs and improved revenue.

He also stated that they would be fully active throughout the process and would share their ideas with the world. Notably, the cooperation with Beijing University will set a level as the objectives of the university are highly satisfactory as they will improve forestry income while setting strategies to reduce climate change and global warming significantly.

In compiling the interaction, the stakeholders drew the participants from the six selected states in Nigeria, comprising Anambra, Bauchi, Borno, Taraba, Ebonyi, and Plateau. Subsequently, study documents were also issued for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
