PDP Governors alert Zamfara, Plateau state authorities of security situation

The Governor’s Forum at the national political party, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has expressed strong concern over the deteriorating security situation in the country. They believe worsening security conditions destroys lives and properties in Plateau and Zamfara states.

They have taken stock of the situation and ascertained the gravity of the situation. Given the details, they urged security agencies to redouble efforts to address the situation. The issue of insecurity in the states of Plateau and Zamfara has increased in the recent past. The issues have led to the political leadership of the state.

The meeting concluded under the leadership of the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Sen Bala Mohammed. He made remarks on the issue of security concerns while briefing Journalists at the end of their inaugural meeting. The PDP Governors hosted the meeting at the Akwa Ibom Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.

According to Governor Mohammed, the Governors expressed their concern about the deteriorating security situation in the country. They especially mentioned destroying lives and properties in Plateau and Zamfara states.

“The meeting also advised the Federal Government and security agencies to rise to the situation. They urged the people to bring the situation under control”.

“In the meantime, he also claimed that the Forum would cooperate with the Federal Government on issues concerning the welfare of Nigerians as well as good governance. At the same time, they would strive to maintain the Forum’s independence and autonomy through offering constructive criticisms where necessary.”

He said during the meeting, they resolved to work together and unite the Forum on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to allow free conduct of elections in Bayelsa, Kogi and other states scheduled for November.

He further said, “The forum is aiming towards providing a platform for peer review of issues, policies, programmes and achievements (legacy projects) of member-Governors across the PDP States.”

Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang was among the PDP Governors who attended the meeting.
