Land of Hope rescued Saviour ten years ago. It was nearly at the beginning of the endeavour. The NGO had just started their work for the well-being of the children. The founder of the NGO, Anja Ringgren Loven, shared that when she saw him for the first time, Saviour was very traumatized. She shared that she sat before a scared little boy ten years ago.
With tears in his eyes, he told me his family had locked him up in a room for several weeks. Anja believes that the action of the community was due to their misconceptions and superstitions. The team of the NGO has been working diligently to protect the children from these fates. Anja shared that Saviour was so traumatized that he developed a high fever during my talk with him.
He said his stepfather accused him of being a witch and beat him daily. With this, she shared that the times have changed for the better, especially for the little boy they rescued from his community. She shared that when she met him, he had tears in his eyes. However, Today Anja was the one with tears in her eyes. The founder of Land of Hope, Anja Ringgren Loven, shared her pride in the achievement of Saviour. She shared that yesterday that same scared boy ten years ago received an award.
He received an award as the Science and Mathematics Ambassador for his outstanding school performance. The founder of the Nigeria-based NGO shared her sincere excitement for her child’s achievement. Congratulations to Saviour. She said she could not believe it’s been ten years since I sat before him. Today, he stands tall and proud with his excellence award!!
She took inspiration from the story of the rescue of the child. Anja asserted that the child has come a long way since his beginning. She urged the people to take lesson from his story and shared that children are not witches.
