Douye Diri recieves Bayelsa Elders’ Council for condolence visit

Governor Douye Diri received the Bayelsa State Elders Council, led by its Chairman, the immediate past Deputy Governor of the State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah.

The governor of Bayelsa, Douye Diri, who recently lost his father, Pa Abraham Diri, has been receiving condolence messages and visits from several prominent personalities of the state, including the Bayelsa State Elders Council, the Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar party workers of the PDP in the state and several other important individuals.

On February 15, 2023, Governor Diri received the Bayelsa State Elders Council, led by its Chairman, the immediate past Deputy Governor of the State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah. The council paid a condolence visit to Senator Douye Diri and his family in Sampou, the governor’s hometown.

According to the council’s Chairman, “the death of a father is a great loss, and so, as elders council, we have come to commiserate and sympathize with you. Jonah added that (the governor) is a person that exemplifies humanity and humility and has brought purposeful leadership to society. I have always said your success is the success of everyone in this State and Ijaw nation, not only you.

He observed that when you succeed, we all succeed. The elders’ council shall continue to stand by you, even on the day of the burial. We shall continue to support you as a third leg to succeed during the time of the burial and beyond.

Accordingly, Governor Diri said addressed his guests and thanked them for the visit. The governor said, “Your visit to the elders’ council humbles me. You’ve truly shown that you are an elder. Nothing can be more consoling and comforting than seeing elders of the state coming to console my sibling in my community and me.

“I want to thank you for commiserating with us on behalf of myself, my family and the community, I am happy that you are here, and I wish you journey mercies back to your homes. We are grateful for your coming”, Governor Diri noted.
