House of Assembly Complex in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, caught on fire early morning on October 10, 2022. As a result of the Fire incident, the building was razed completely.

According to some sources, the fire broke out early in the morning. However, the security officials discovered it at around 7:00 AM. The fire damaged the whole building.

The mishappening caused extensive damage to the House of Assembly complex, as the fire damaged the whole place.

The most affected area of the House of Assembly complex, situated in Kogi State Capital, Lokoja, was the Hallow Chamber, where the lawmakers make laws. The chamber floor and roof were destroyed as a result of the fire,

Speaker of the House Mathew Kolawole and the state security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, were among the few first responders at the assembly complex.

An anonymous source informed the reporters that he suspected the fire’s cause was an explosion.

However, the anonymous source could not pinpoint the explosion’s source.

Speaker of the House Mathew Kolawole, who was one of the first responders at the assembly complex, talked to the media reporters about the incident.

He also shared his suspicions regarding the origin of the fire. He suspected an attempt to sabotage. However, he could also not pinpoint the source of the alleged sabotage.

The reporters asked the speaker of the house, Kolawole, if the fire incident was somehow related to or linked with the recent happening between the Assembly and Dangote groups.

The speaker of the house did not respond to the query directly. He stated that the House of Assembly would allow security agencies to determine the actual cause.

He told the media reporters stated that, “We should leave security people to do their work and give us a report going forward”, the speaker said.
