The Nasarawa State Police command stated that it had caught Hassan Hassan again, who is a member of the Boko Haram terrorists and who had recently escaped from the Kuje Correctional Centre.
On Tuesday, July 5, terrorists attacked the Kuje medium custodial centre to free more than 300 prisoners, which included members of the Boko Haram and Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP).
In the light of these incidents, the Federal Government, on Friday, July 8, announced that 64 of the prisoners with terror-related charges were wanted along with their names and other details published.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement, said that the Boko Haram escapee was caught during the early hours of Saturday in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Hassan Hassan, a male whose name and photo were amongst the escaped prisoners in the Boko Haram/Terrorism case, was captured again by the Eagle-eyed Police officials of the Nasarawa State Police Command at Keffi.
CP Adesina Soyemi, the Commissioner of the Police, has asked for the transfer of the suspect to a safer place while an intensive investigation search for other inmates who have fled and handing over process of the captured inmate progresses.
However, the Commissioner of the Police praised the efforts of the Police operatives for a job done very well and ensured members of the general public of the Command’s unrelenting and continuous efforts at making sure the safety of everyone in general.
Investigations are on to find others who escaped that day and will soon be recaught. It is reported that the Boko Haram terrorist group carried out the event as they wanted to make free some of its allies, and during the process, many other inmates took benefit of the situation and fled from the prison along with the group.
