The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, has extended his heartfelt greetings on India’s 77th Independence Day Anniversary. India gained their independence on August 15, 1947.
The freedom came after over two centuries of colonial rule. The two nations, the Commonwealth of Dominica and the Republic of India, share common roots of British colonization.
The people of the two countries share cordial and very loving relationships. The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica extends the greetings of the various momentous occasions that reflect the commitment of the country to remain steadfast in its commitment to becoming a global leader.
Dr Skerrit joined several other international leaders, politicians and people of the country in extending their greetings to the nation to celebrate their independence, nationhood and sovereignty.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, applauded Dr Skerrit’s tweet extending his greetings to India. He responded to the greetings from the Prime Minister of Dominica, with a tweet thanking him for his greetings and his gesture. Prime Minister Modi’s tweet read:

Further, the nationals and citizens of India also applauded and welcomed the gesture of the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica. They thanked Dr Roosevelt Skerrit for his greetings. The people opined that the exchange of greetings is a step towards the strengthening of ties and relationship between India and Dominica.
