Three establishments, including a nightclub, students’ hostel and a residential building, have reportedly been destroyed due to fire at different locations in the Anambra State of Nigeria.
It was found that no one was injured during the three incidents, although goods worth millions of naira were damaged in the incident, which occurred between Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
While the fire at the hostel and the club was said to be due to a power surge, that of the storey building was because of poor management of cooking gas which caused a gas cylinder explosion.
While confirming the incident, Engr. Martin Agbili, State Fire Chief, stated that his men were on the ground to battle the inferno after distressed calls.
At around 3:55 pm on Tuesday, August 2, Anambra State Fire Service got a distress call of a fire outbreak that occurred at His Grace, St. John’s Hostel, Ifite, Awka.
They immediately deployed their fire truck and Firefighters to the fire scene and extinguished the fire. The reason for the fire was reported as the Power Surge in one of the rooms, and there was no loss of life.
Also, around 11:15 am on Wednesday, August 3, Anambra State Fire Service got a call of a fire outbreak at the Doro club junction Isuniocha close to Isuaniocha bridge.
It was a one-storey building with a foam store at the ground level and a one-room apartment on the top floor, and shops.
Another incident was reported on Wednesday around 8:39 pm when Anambra State Fire Service got a call of a fire outbreak at No. 8 Ken Agummadu Street, Off Ngozika Estate, Awka. It was a storey building with 4no three bedroom flats.
The right side of the top floor, comprising of a 3-bedroom flat, had the household items in the sitting room entirely burnt, but the building was saved.
