The government of Jammu and Kashmir has started a land allocation programme to benefit the community’s people. The government’s decision has led to a wave of happiness in the Union Territory. Through these initiatives, the people of Jammu and Kashmir will own land. Although the government has not made any official announcements, the possibility of the legislation has made the community’s people hopeful.
The government of India has started the Indira Awaas Yojana for the benefit of the people. Under this, the government will allot houses to the people to construct their homes. The government has finalized the rules and regulations of the policy with the lawmakers. The policy will get approval at the Administrative Council meeting under the chairmanship of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.
Through Prime Minister Awas Yojana, the government of India provides financial support for the construction of houses. Meanwhile, they give the land to the people who do not have land to build their homes on. Additionally, the government recovered thousands of kanals of government land from illegal encroachers during an anti-encroachment campaign in January-February 2023.
The people receiving land from the government initiative have expressed their excitement. The government has made no official announcements for the people. However, they have prepared the Masooda for the policy. Following this, the government has prepared a complete list of land for allotment. Additionally, the government will use reclaimed land to construct schools, hospitals and other public properties.
Notably, Jammu and Kashmir have no laws for using allocated lands to construct houses, like the other Union Territories. The laws provide for allotment of land to people to expand approved homes under Prime Minister Awas Yojana.
Accordingly, now the government has to allot lands to the people before giving them financial assistance under Prime Minister Awas Yojana. The community of Jammu and Kashmir has expressed their appreciation to the government for their decision.
