The Police Authorities in Kebbi have successfully arrested a notorious armed robbery gang operating along Bena/Mairairai roads and parts of the state.
The police command also apprehended a housewife suspected to have murdered her husband in the state’s Birnin Kebbi area.
Commissioner of Police of the state police authorities, Magaji Kontagora, revealed this on September 22 while briefing journalists in the Birnin Kebbi region.
CP Kontagora highlighted that in their most recent attacks, the robbery gang attacked and robbed Tasiu Magaji Kassalle and shot Mikail Ibrahim dead. The band of robbers then proceeded to get away with their motorcycles, four bags of fertilizer and the sum of N1,950.
According to the CP, police detectives sprang into action after receiving information on their activities and trailed and arrested one of the gang members, Muhammed Lawali, aka Kaska.
He further disclosed that the suspect confessed to the robbery during interrogation, adding that one single barrel gun and a matchet were recovered from the suspect.
On a related note, the Police Command has also arrested a housewife who was suspected of having murdered her husband in Birnin Kebbi Local
Council of the state.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kebbi state Police Command SP Nafiu Abubakar confirmed this in a statement made available to reporters.
He stated that the police had received a distress call from a neighbour, Habibu Isah. He claimed that he had heard a strange noise from one of the neighbouring houses in the quarters.
He explained that When police operatives arrived at the scene, they found the man lying on the floor in a pool of blood, and he was confirmed dead by a doctor later on. The police then discovered his wife, Farida Abubakar, from her hiding place, and she was arrested and interrogated. The murder suspect would be charged in court after the investigation.
