Police officials of the Nasarawa State Police Command have captured a man, aged 21, identified as Usman Danladi, for attempting murder.
Danladi is reported to have chopped off the wrist of a man aged 25, Jibrin Abdullahi. The incident was reported to have taken place in Tudun Wada Area, Auta Balefi of Karu Local Government Area of the state.
A statement issued on Sunday, September 18, by D.S.P. Ramhan Nansel Nasarawa, the State Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the arrest was the result of the information on the attack which took place on Friday.
As per the police spokesperson, the suspect reported that the victim had assaulted his girlfriend, Aisha, before a fight was executed between them.
The statement of the official reads, “On September 16, 2022, at around 4:00 pm, information was received that Jibrin Abdullahi, male, aged 25 of Kaduna State but a resident of Tudun Wada Area, Auta Balefi of Karu L.G.A., Nasarawa State was attacked, and his wrist was chopped off.”
The police operatives attacked to Goshen City Division led by CSP Eunice Ogbadu, upon receiving the information, they immediately rushed to the scene and took the victim to the nearest hospital, Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, for treatment.
Subsequently, an intensive manhunt for the wrongdoer of the cruel act was carried out.
The efforts of the investigators paid off on September 17 when the major suspect, identified as Usman Danladi 21yrs was arrested.
During the interrogation, the suspect revealed to the commission of the crime but said that the victim had earlier assaulted his girlfriend, and when he confronted him regarding the same, a fight took place between them, during which he attacked the victim with a Machete.
CP Adesina Soyemi, the police commissioner, had ordered that the case must be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia, for further investigation, after which the accused will be charged to court for prosecution.
