Prominent Nigerian Youtuber Tayo Aina recently took to his social media account to spark a debate on a political topic. Allegedly, the helpful nature of the Republic of China, which always helps the governments of African nations, has made Aina curious. In line with this, he observed that the governments of Africa love to borrow money.

More often than not, these nations turn to China for help. Aina termed China a “sugar daddy” who likes to give money. However, at the same time, he observed that the “problem with sugar daddies is that one day they would want to collect something back.”

Adding to his observation, Tayo Aina divulged the country’s history (china). He noted that historically, China used to be a poor economy. That is until the country opened their workforce for cheap labour. Upon reaching a certain level of development, the countries start looking outwards. Here, the Nigerian YouTuber showcased his political acumen and shared that statistically, China’s investments in African economies have witnessed an upward climb.

The china government argue that they are only being friendly. However, Tayo Aina does not believe this. He argues that nothing is free in international relations. Here, Tayo Aina shared that China has funded projects in all the African economies. He also conceded that the nations are benefitting immensely from the investments.

However, sharing the downside of these infrastructures, Tayo Aina said that African workers are not treated fairly in these corporations. Additionally, they noted that when the countries cannot pay back on the investments, China takes over the minerals of these nations.

Accordingly, He invited the opinion of his audience and followers to share their opinion on the topic through the comment sections. Some social media users commended the YouTuber for sharing his invaluable opinion.

One of the social media users wrote:
I so appreciate how you’re opening the eyes of Africans. Your work is amazing. I’m from the Caribbean but repatriated to Ghana and believe that Africa will rise again with such platforms as yours.
