Now in this current pandemic era, streaming services have gained lots of importance. Most of the films are being released in theaters and streaming services as well. Amazon Prime is one of the favorite streaming services which offers a large selection of movies in different genres. Currently, it has the most extensive film gallery. Here is a list of some of the films which can be watched on Amazon Prime on weekends.

Children of the Corn –  an American supernatural folk horror film. The film is based on the short story by the same name by Stephen King. Fritz Kiersch directed the film. The film tells the story of an evil entity set in the fictitious rural town of Gatlin, Nebraska. They enter the town’s children to murder all the adults and a couple driving across the country. The film was released on March 9, 1984, and grossed $14.6 million.

Alien – a science fiction action film. James Cameron wrote and directed the film. It is the sequel to the 1979 science fiction horror film Allien, and in the Allien franchise, it is the 2nd film. The story follows Lieutenant Ellen Ripley, the only survivor left after the aliens attack the ships. The communication is lost with the human colony on the moon where her ship 1st encountered the aliens. Ellen, along with a troop of Colonial Marines, agrees to return to the site to investigate. The film was released on July 18, 1986.

Angel Heart – an American neo-noir psychological horror film. The film is the adaptation of the 1978 novel Falling Angel by William Hjortsberg. Alan Parker wrote and written the film. A New York City private investigator is hired to solve the disappearance of a man. During his investigation takes him to New Orleans, where he becomes involved in a series of brutal murders. The film was released on March 6, 1987. The film grossed $17.2 million.

Cry Freedom – an epic drama film. Richard Attenborough directed and produced the film. Donald Woods is chief editor at the liberal newspaper in South Africa and has written several articles on Steve Biko. He changes his view after meeting him and attracts attention from the security police. The film was released on November 6, 1987, and grossed $15 million.

Broadcast News – an American romantic comedy-drama film. James L. Brooks directed, produced, and wrote the film. Jane Craig, a television producer, must choose between a handsome young guy and a gifted reporter. The young guy is not very good at his work. The film was released on December 16, 1987, and grossed $67.3 million.

The Abyss – an American science fiction film. James Cameron wrote and directed the film. In the Caribbean, the American submarine sinks. A US search and recovery team works with an oil platform crew racing against Soviet vessels to recover the boat. Something unexpected they encounter deep in the ocean. The film was released on August 9, 1989. It received positive reviews from critics and earned grossed $89.8 million.

The Fisher King – an American comedy-drama film. Richard LaGravenese wrote, and Terry Gilliam directed the film. An unstable caller shoots people due to provocation by Jack, a radio jockey, he becomes depressed. He decides to help a man who is the victim of the shooting. The film was released on September 20, 1991, and grossed $41.9 million.

Bad Lieutenant – an American neo-noir crime film. Abel Ferrara directed the film. The Lieutenant is a corrupt cop who is into gambling and has lots of debts. He explores his authority to harass teenage girls, abuse drugs sexually, embezzle money. His troubles reach a crisis when a mob lackey delivers an ultimatum to pay off his debt. The film was released on November 20, 1992, and grossed $ 2 million.

Election – an American black comedy film. Alexander Payne directed and wrote the screenplay along with Jim Taylor for the film. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Tom Perrotta. Tracy, for her high school election run unopposed. The school’s civics teacher has different plans. He tells the varsity’s famous football player to run for president, and chaos follows. The film was released on April 23, 1999, and grossed $17.2 million.

Bringing Out the Dead – an American psychological drama film. Martin Scorsese directed, and Paul Schrader wrote the film. The film is based on the novel by Joe Connelly. Frank, the overworked paramedic and a mentally strained from Manhattan, tries to maintain his sanity. The film was released on October 22, 1999, and grossed $16.8 million.

Frailty – an American psychological horror film. Bill Paxton directed and starred in the movie. The story shows a strange relationship between two boys and their fanatically religious father. The father believes that God wants him to kill people disguised as demons. The film was released on November 7, 2001, and grossed $17.4 million.

 About a Boy –  a romantic comedy film. Paul Weitz and Chris Weitz directed and, along with Peter Hedges, wrote the film. The film is an adaptation of the 1988 novel of the same name by Nick Hornby. The movie uses double voiceover narration where the audience hears Will’s and Marcus’s thoughts alternately. Universal Pictures released the film on April 26, 2002. The film received positive reviews from critics and earned $130.5 million.

Adaptation – an American black comedy-drama film. Spike Jonze directed, and Charlie Kaufman wrote the film. The story consists of adaptations from Orlean’s 1998 nonfiction book The Orchid Thief, fantastical elements, and a romance between Orlean and Laroche. Invented elements are there in the film, including versions of Orlean and Laroche three years after the events of the book. The film was released on December 6, 2002. t received positive reviews from critics and earned grossed $32.8 million.

Catch Me If You Can – an American crime film. Steven Spielberg directed and produced, and Jeff Nathanson wrote the screenplay of the film. The film is based on the autobiography of Frank Abagnale, who, with his masterful art of deception, has duped people worth millions of dollars. With his scams increasing, he is soon pursued by FBI agent Carl Hanratty. The film was released on December 25, 2002, and grossed $352.1 million.

Burn After Reading – a black comedy crime film. Coen brothers directed, produced, wrote, and edited the film. Two gym employees get a CD containing the memoirs of a CIA agent. Both decide to sell it back to him, and if they fail, they decide to sell it Russian Embassy. The film was released on September 12, 2008, and grossed $163.7 million.

The American – an American action thriller film. Anton Corbijn directed the movie based on the 1990 novel A Very Private Gentleman by Martin Booth. The film was released on September 1, 2010. It received positive reviews from critics and grossed $67 million worldwide.

The Big Sick – an American romantic comedy film. Michael Showalter directed, and Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon wrote the film. It is loosely based on the real-life romance between Nanjiani and Gordon. The story follows an interethnic couple, and both deals will make a cultural difference after Emily becomes ill. The film was released on June 23, 2017, and grossed $56 million worldwide.

The Farewell – an American comedy-drama film. Lulu Wang directed and wrote the film. The story follows a Chinese-American family who learns that the grandmother will not live for long. They decide not to tell her and not to hold any family gathering before she dies. The film was released on July 12, 2019, and grossed $23.1 million.
