The Oyo State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Barr. Nurudeen Ashamun held a media parley with the gentlemen of the new media a couple of days before to discuss the activities of the ministry in the last four years.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Barr. Nurudeen Ashamu Temilolu acknowledged the significant strides made by the ministry in advancing energy and mineral resources in Oyo State.
The commissioner for energy and mineral resources in Oyo State outlined a number of achievements credited to the ministry in the last four years, which include the streets lightning, expansion of renewable energy projects, Improved electricity infrastructure through lPP projects, installation of Mini-Grids to some selected Communities and Health care centres, collaborations with private sector partners for energy project which has helped to create job opportunities.
The street lighting project was completed the quickest; it became a matter of necessity. The main concern of the administration was security; many crimes were taking place at some particular places. Other than that, lights provide illumination for pedestrians and motorists, which helps people to avoid accidents. The administration installed street lights everywhere it was needed.
According to the commissioner, the main focus was to improve the economy, so the installation of lights gave a push to the nightlife, and the exchange of money started taking place at night as well.
The commissioner also promised more street lighting projects; in the Phase 1 project, 18.5 km of the area was meant to be covered, and in Phase 2, the target was to cover approximately 230 km.
The event featured interactive sessions where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions with the commissioner and his team.
This session allowed participants a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the sector.
Barr. Nurudeen Ashamu Temilolu expressed his willingness to work closely with the new media to ensure that accurate and relevant information is disseminated to the public. He encouraged a collaborative approach to improve communication and transparency.
