The Nigeria Police of Oyo State Command paraded 42 suspects on Tuesday, July 5, for several offences such as armed robbery, murder, cultism, and diversion of goods. They also recovered fresh parts of the human body.
Adebowale Williams, the new commissioner of Police, announced this while parading the wrongdoers at the command’s headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.
As per the sources, many other exhibits have been recovered from the suspects, which included arms and ammunition, motorcycles, vehicles, 23 mobile phones, tricycles, five daggers, Hemp, clothes, N120,000 cash, embalmed human flesh, two small knives, among others.
Williams stated that the Department of State Services, Ibadan transferred to the command a case of murder on May 31 after arresting a suspect, aged 31, who was related to the crime.
He stated that the suspect reportedly was involved in ritual killing as well as selling parts of the human body, which were illegally found in his possession.
The police officer stated that the main accused, during interrogation, confessed his crime of murdering a man, aged 26, Waloe Adefabi, who came to him with his girlfriend, Layelawa Simbiat.
The significant suspect then mentioned that his two other partners were in the murder of the deceased. Following this information, officials from the Homicide Sector swung into action and caught him.
The other partners have also confessed their crime of murdering the deceased with the primary suspect and that the body parts of the dead were shared among themselves for rituals and selling.
Williams stated that the flesh of the dead was recovered from the primary suspect and was sent to the University College Hospital (UCH) for Forensic Analysis.
Additionally, he said that further investigations continue to arrest other culprits responsible for the murder of the deceased.
One of the suspects, identified as Alfa, stated that they put poison in the tea served to the deceased who killed him.
The suspect said that they utilised a knife to cut the body parts of the deceased and shared his parts with each other for rituals.
The police commissioner stated that all the paraded suspects would be charged to court after the investigation.
