Bayelsa: Douye Diri meets elders council, applauds their contribution to state

Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State, today attended a meeting of the Bayelsa Elders Council held on July 27, 2023. Governor Diri appreciated the elders for their continuous support to the state government. They have played a crucial role in maintaining peace in the state. Governor Diri stated that the government will always support them in their activities.

“This clearly shows that the elders take interest in the development and welfare of our dear state. A big thank you to all of our elders who are present here. He also thanked them for acknowledging what the government has done so far, and is still doing.

Further, Governor Douye Diri stated that I like also to applaud the Elders Council for working with the state government. They worked to ensure the peace and security of Bayelsa State. He acknowledged that security cannot be 100% perfect across the whole world.

Still, since we assumed office, and with the support of the Elders, Youths and the citizenry, our security has improved to a very appreciable level. Further, Governor Diri asserted that I believe that we can still do more.

During the meeting with the council of elders in Bayelsa state, the governor of Bayelsa stated that: As a government, we have continued with the legacy projects. These projects include the three Senatorial roads inherited from the previous administration.

He addressed one of the elders in the council during his remarks. He said he was happy to note that your chairman, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, has spoke of many of our projects.

Mention must be made of the Sagbama/Ekeremor road, and on the day we will inaugurate it, I will announce the award of the section to Agge. The Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukubie and Nembe-Brass roads are progressing.”
