The Minister of Housing in the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, and parliamentary representative of the Roseau Central, Melissa Skerrit, has collaborated with the Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities and digital economy to start the Web designing course. The course will help in the development of the education sector of the country.
The course will begin on Monday, March 13, 2023. The ministry will hold sessions for the Web designing course two times every week from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. As per the update shared by the Parliamentary representative of Roseau Central, the initiative is a part of the Caribbean Digital Transformation project.
The Minister of Housing, Melissa Skerrit, took to her social media account to share the collaboration details and the web designing course. She shared that she was excited to collaborate on this initiative with the Ministry of Public Works to promote the advancement of education in sectors of today’s world that are paramount to our progress as a people and a nation.
Following this, Melissa Skerrit shared some details about the course. She noted that the Web Designing Course would cover the following topics:
1. Introduction to Web Development
2. HTML and CSS Basics
4. Introduction to Web Application Frameworks
5. Deploying and Maintaining Web Applications
6. Best Practices in Web Development.
Expanding upon the significance of the initiative, Minister of Housing Skerrit recollected the words of respected educator and author David Warlick. He noted that We need technology in every classroom, student, and teacher’s hands. He believes that because it is the pen and paper of our time and the lens through which we experience much of our world.
Taking the words as inspiration, Malissa started the web design course for the students in her constituency. Interested individuals can register for the programme at the Constituency office in Roseau Central.
