The Fulani team that is led by one Ibrahim Abdullahi from Kaduna is not a member of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and he is not even a participant of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore Fulani Socio-Cultural Association, as per a statement by a member of a team.
As per the team, Ibrahim Abdullahi is a factional National Secretary of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN).
He further included, “We, the entire official members and authorities of Fulani Association, including all the stakeholders dissociate ourselves from this measure.”
As per him, he took this step on his own, not under the influence of Fulani communities or associations.
The group pointed out that though they do not have anything against Jonathan, but still it is not a decision that they have taken collectively to support or buy nomination forms for candidates in Nigeria.
As per him, they were only after the unity, integration and harmony among the Fulani communities and the farming communities while hoping the security agencies to deal with criminals and bandits.
The group has appealed to its members around the country to abide by the law and not to let themselves to be used as agents of crisis.
On the other hand, Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan, has denied a presidential nomination form purchased for him by a group that is from northern Nigeria. Jonathan explained the purchase of the form without his consent as an ‘insult.’
Ikechukwu Eze, the spokesperson of Goodluck Jonathan in a statement, said that he is yet to decide whether to strive for re-election on the platform of Nigeria’s present ruling party, APC.
Buhari finishes his constitutionally allowed second term in 2023, and there has been a rush by many APC politicians to defeat him.
More than 25 presidential forms, each costing N100 million, have been purchased in the APC.
