The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, will embark on his first bilateral visit to India from February 25 to February 27. The weekend visit will serve as an occasion for the german chancellor to engage the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in important geopolitical interactions.
German envoy Philipp Ackermann shared the update of this visit on Wednesday while noting this is the first visit of the German Chancellor to India since his appointment in the position. They informed the people of India about the main focusses of the interaction between the two leaders.
One of the major issues of discussion in the geopolitical scenario will be the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The Envoy claimed they heard other leaders’ opinions on the ongoing conflict, and consequently, the discussion will remain a priority.
Philipp Ackermann noted that China would also form an important part of the discussion agenda. He also shared that all the issues about the Indo-pacific will form a part of the discussion agenda. The discussion between the two leaders will provide an opportunity to get the leader’s opinions to do the various issues of the difficult international environment.
The German Envoy asserted that they considered India an extremely valuable and important partner in these discussions.
Further, Philipp Ackermann talked about the development in terms of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He expressed that the European leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron, maintain contact with the leaders of Both Russia and Ukraine. He allowed that the communication is irregular, however uninterrupted.
Accordingly, he also noted that these discussions had not delivered anything important. However, the European Envoy pointed out that they still relied on diplomacy to solve the issue. However, he said that diplomacy could only work if both sides agreed to the solution.
Reiterating the stance of Germany, Philipp Ackermann noted that they intend to continue helping Ukraine defend its territory. He said it is unacceptable for one country to move into another country.
