Windows 11 was made public this month and Microsoft released its new operating system to supported PCs on October 5. Everyone who is running Windows 10 may update for free if they have a proper PC, but many users are waiting for a full release.
Because Microsoft is releasing the OS slowly, some PCs may not show the update just yet. Even if you check for updates it might still not show.
When Microsoft’s data shows that the upgrade is available for that PC, the Windows 11 update will be available in a few days from then. When the new operating system is released, the steps to update will be similar to that of a normal Windows 10 update, as long as the device is compatible and fits the minimum requirements. Even if the minimum requirements are not met, Microsoft will provide a solution, but the Windows 11 installation will no longer be supported by the company.
Windows 11 can also be downloaded from the official site and feel its new features such as widgets, snap layouts, virtual desktops, and the new Microsoft Store. You can see the details about Microsoft’s new software below.
Some users can still get Windows 11 just like any other new version of Windows. Go to Settings then Update & Security then Windows Update and there will be a Check for updates option. Then it will show Windows 11 update if it’s available. Then choose to Download and Install.
It is to be noticed that Windows 11 will be available eventually to all, and it might take months before it reaches their device. New PCs will get the update first, with all suitable devices expected to get it by mid-2022, depending on the hardware.
If the update isn’t currently ready, but for the users who want to upgrade right now, there are few ways to do it. Downloading the Windows 11 Installation Assistant is the best and easiest method. After downloading, choose Run to guarantee that your hardware is compatible. Then click Accept and Install to accept the license terms and start the installation. When the installation is complete, you will be requested to restart your computer. There’s nothing to worry about if the computer restarts many times throughout the installation procedure. Do not turn off the computer till the installation is complete.
If you are unable to update with the Windows 11 Installation Assistant, there are other ways, but these are more difficult. However, it is recommended to wait till the official update rolls out. If you still want to proceed, you can create Windows 11 installation media or an ISO file. Microsoft’s download Windows 11 page tells more about the installation procedures.
Windows 11 is more minimalistic with soft color shades, soft corners, startup tone, and looks more like Mac in the overall appearance. The Windows Start menu has changed from the bottom left corner to the center of the screen, with program icons placed in the center next to it. There are several new desktop features, including widgets that provide quick information and a simpler virtual desktop system. Android apps will be incorporated into Windows and available for download via the Microsoft Store. However, this feature will be released after a few months.
