The Development Governance International (DGI) Consult, in collaboration with the Nigeria Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Forum, has nominated Nasarawa State Health Commissioner Dr Gaza Gwamna for the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) “Excellence Award”.
The ceremony in which Gaza Gwamna will be honoured with the prestigious UHC Excellence Award will take place at the maiden edition of the Health System Emerging Solutions Forum at the Continental Hotel (Former Sheraton Hotel) in Abuja, the Nation’s Capital on Tuesday, 14th November 2023.
The Award will be presented to Dr Gaza Gwamna at the ceremony by the Chairman Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ipalibo Harry Banigo.
In the letter of recognition signed by the Managing Partner, Development Governance International (DGI) Consult, Dr Gafar Alawode attributed Dr Gaza’s distinction to his meritorious service and landmark achievements, which no doubt contributed to the advancement of the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) cause in Nigeria.

Recently, the Forum of Chief Executive Officers of State Social Health Insurance Agencies (SSHIAs) honoured Dr Gaza Gwamna with the “Service Award” for serving as the Pioneer Elected Exco Chairman of the Forum.
Before his present appointment, Dr Gaza Gwamna was the immediate past and pioneer Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency and the Pioneer Chairman Forum of Chief Executive Officers of State Social Health Insurance Agencies in Nigeria.
Responding, Dr Gaza appreciated the honour, which he said would engineer him to do more in service to Nasarawa State, Nigeria and humanity.
