Nigerian author, political economist and social media personality Michael Ogueke has taken to his social media to claim that polygamy is not the solution to Infidelity. The social media user clarified that he does not to have a problem with a religion instructing its adherents to marry ten wives. Accordingly, he does not have an issue with any man marrying ten wives or any woman being the 11th wife of any man.
However, he confessed that it is foolish to believe polygamy cures Infidelity & promiscuity. To back his claim, Professor Ogueke stated that No research has proven that men with 4-10 wives are more faithful in marriages than men with one wife each. No research demonstrates that women where men marry one wife each, are more promiscuous than where they marry five women.
In fact, Professor Ogueke claimed that Infidelity in women is more in polygamous marriages than in monogamous marriages. Statistics show that there are more fully active male homosexual commercial sex workers & brothels in the core area of Nigeria that practice polygamy than in monogamous marriage areas.
He reiterated that people can as many women as their religion and pocket permit. I have no problem with that, and I also respect that, said Professor Ogueke. However, he asserted don’t tell me it’s a panacea for Infidelity, promiscuity & their attendant social problems. Don’t tell me men with 4 – 10 wives are less promiscuous than men with one wife each. Women in polygamous marriages are less promiscuous because they now have husbands, security, well provided for & peace of mind.
Professor Michael Ogueke claimed that men with multiple wives have ten times more side chicks than men with one wife each & vice versa. There are unhappy women in polygamous marriages that have multiple boyfriends & sexual partners outside their husbands & vice versa.
Ogueke believes that Infidelity & having side chicks is a function of the size of a man’s pocket, his self-discipline, and the measure of the orderliness & peace he enjoys at home. It’s not about how many wives he has. On the other hand, the reason for Infidelity & promiscuity in women varies, but, in most cases, they defy logic. This is because millions of women are loved & well taken care of materially & sexually, but they still cheat without conscience or reason.
