The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into an explosion that rocked a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) camera dealer’s shop in Ikeja, Lagos, on Friday evening. In a statement issued on Saturday, the police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the explosion triggered immediate response from the law enforcement agencies.
“The scene of the explosion and the adjoining areas were immediately secured and cordoned off by operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of the command, Mobile Police Detachment, and Conventional Police Teams,” Hundeyin explained.
He added that the EOD experts had conducted a thorough sweep of the area to ensure the safety of the public and to facilitate a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the explosion.
