American Entertainment Giant 20th Century Studios has selected a Nigerian Scriptwriter named Stanley Kalu to write and direct a Hollywood movie inspired by the works of Matthew Tobin Anderson.
Hollywood Producer Zachary Green will produce the movie, which mirrors a dystopian love story. This story will mark the Nigerian scriptwriter Kalu’s feature-directional debut.
20th Century Fox’s pick from Nigeria, Kalu, is a trained filmmaker. Kalu graduated from the University of Southern California recently. Kalu travels back and forth from Nigeria to Los Angeles in the United States of America, dividing his time between the two nations.
According to some sources, Mathew Tobin Anderson’s Feed is one of the most acclaimed Young Adult novels, waiting to be adapted into a film for the last two decades.
Kalu won The Launch: Million Dollar Screenplay Competition. He also turned his script, The Obituary of Tunde Johnson, into a low-budget drama that premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2019, opened the 2019 Austin Film Festival,
Further, the Scriptwriter from Nigeria also won the Audience Award for the debut narrative feature at OutFest 2020. All these events were enough for the Nigerian Filmmaker/Scriptwriter to get noticed by the American media giant
Recently, Kalu wrote the sci-fi action project One Night in Compton for Paramount Players. Kenya Barris-produced produced the project.
Anderson’s most acclaimed piece of work, Freed, which Kalu is planning to write and direct, giving it the shape and form of a film, has recently been named one of Time magazine’s 100 Best YA Books of All Time.
The film’s story is set in a future dystopian America. Internet connections feed directly into the consumer’s brain in this dystopian world. The plot revolves around the unfolding love story between an average kid on a weekend trip to the moon, Titus Gray, and a brainy girl who has decided to try to fight the feed Violet Durn.
