The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) of Kwara Command have captured a 40-year-old suspected abductor at Owode near Banni in Kaiama Local Government Area.
The accused was paraded on Monday, July 18, at NSCDC Command Headquarters, Ilorin.
During a press conference, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, the Spokesperson of the Command, stated that the arrested individual was a reported member of a gang who had allegedly kidnapped an older man in Eruwa, Oyo State of Nigeria.
He stated that some of the alleged gang members had earlier been captured by the Police Command in the Oyo State.
Olasunkanmi stated that the suspects were said to have acquired a ransom for the family of the victim but still killed the older man.
As per him, three suspects were caught related to the kidnapping and killing of the older man, but two of them somehow managed to flee from the police custody.
He further added that the detained suspects escaped from the Eruwa in Oyo State but were captured by the police officials of NSCDC at Owode near Banni, Kaiama Local Government Area.
Olasunkanmi stated that earlier, the suspects arrested had revealed the other suspect’s name as one of their gang members.
The NSCDC spokesperson stated that the security personnel were boosting efforts to capture the remaining members of the reported kidnapping gang and are still at large.
He stated that the suspect would be transferred to the Police Command in the Oyo State to make them able to persist with their investigation.
DCC Jonah Gabriel, the NSCDC Acting Commandant in Kwara, called on the people of the state to support the security agencies always by promptly reporting any dubious character in their society.
