India is currently facing outrage from many Arab nations after two spokespersons of the ruling BJP party, Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal, made derogatory comments related to the Prophet Muhammed recently.
On Monday, 6 June, Saudi Arabia also joined nations like Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Itan to criticise the two leaders for such religious comments.
On Sunday, 5 June, the BJP had to suspend Sharma and expel Jindal due to the high criticism it was receiving from worldwide. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the remarks as per the sources.
Moreover, the Indian government has clarified that it pays its respects to all religions and overlooked the remarks as views of fringe elements. India has also lashed out at Pakistan and OIC for their unwanted statements on this issue.
Bahrain, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia have also joined many Muslim countries to criticise the controversial and religion-based remarks of the BJP leaders while emphasising the significance of respecting all religious beliefs.
Saudi’s foreign affairs ministry has also expressed its denunciation and condemnation in a statement of the remarks made by the leader, stating that it directly insulted Prophet Muhammed.
The Gulf nation restated its “permanent rejection of prejudice against the remarks of the Islamic religion.”
The Taliban-led Afghan government also condemned the insulting remarks strongly.
Whereas on Monday, Pakistan stated that it has called upon the Indian chargé d’affaires to express its absolute rejection and condemnation of the derogatory remarks.
Earlier, Iran, Qatar and Kuwait had called upon India’s ambassadors while conveying strong condemnation and protest over this issue. Some of these countries have also decided to boycott Indian products.
Coincidentally, Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu, is presently visiting Qatar.
Nupur Sharma, the BJP spokesperson, made controversial comments against Prophet Muhammed in a television interview. In contrast, Naveen Kumar Jindal posted some derogatory remarks about Prophet on Twitter, following which he was expelled.
