A total of two Coronavirus-related deaths, as well as 241 new cases, were reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday in eight states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Nigerian Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) announced on Tuesday morning via its verified website that Taraba, a state in the North-East, had 98 new illnesses, including 74 backlogs, between January 1 and January 23.
It stated that Rivers, a state in southern Nigeria’s Niger Delta region, reported 66 cases, while Lagos, a state in southwestern Nigeria and the second most populous metropolis in Africa, recorded 35 infections, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) reported 20 cases.
Among the other states with new cases are Delta – 13, Kwara – 3, Abia – 2, Nasarawa – 2, Plateau – 2, and Delta – 13.
No instances have been reported in Cross River, Ekiti, Kano, Ogun, Ondo, Osun State, Oyo State, or Sokoto State thus far, according to the public health agency.
It stated that there were a total of 252,428 COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, with 3,126 persons losing their lives as a result of the pandemic since the country reported its first COVID-19 case on February 27, 2020.
The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported that 596 persons were freed from isolation centres across the country on Monday, bringing the overall number of recoveries in the country to 227,004.
Since the virus epidemic, approximately 4,055,877 persons have been tested for coronavirus infection in Nigeria, which has a population of over 206 million people according to estimates.
