The Jigawa State Police officials have captured and arrested 37-year-old Munkaila Ahmadu for reportedly murdering his parents in the Gagarawa local government area of the state in Nigeria.
The information was contained in a statement by DSP Lawan Shiisu, the spokesperson of the command, on Thursday, August 1.
DSP Shiisu stated that the suspect was arrested after he attacked his mother and father along with two others with a wooden pestle.
As per him, those who were attacked by Ahmadu have been identified as 70-year-old Ahmad Muhammad, 60-year-old Hauwau Ahamadu, and Hakalima Amadu, aged 60 and 65-year-old Kailu Badugu.
He further added that the victims were immediately rushed to the Gumel General Hospital after the attack was reported to the police officials.
He explained that because of the injuries from the attack, the parents of the suspect, Ahmad and Hauwau, were pronounced dead on arrival by the doctor on duty.
However, the other two victims are still admitted to the hospital and are receiving medical attention.
As per the statement, on Thursday, September 1, around 11:30 am, information was received that Munkaila Ahmadu of Zarada-Sabuwa village in Gagarawa LGA of Jigawa, with the help of a wooden pestle, attacked the following persons:
Ahmadu Muhammad, the village Head of Zarada-Sabuwa, Hauwa Ahmadu, Hakalima Amadu and Kailu Badugu residents of Zarada -Sabuwa village in Gagarawa LGA.
The command spokesperson also added that initial investigations disclosed that the deceased mother and father were the biological parents of the accused.
He also added that the suspect would be soon charged to court upon completion of the investigation as ordered by the state’s commissioner of police, Aliyu Tafida.
Further investigations are still being carried out as the motive behind the attack has not yet been disclosed by the accused. He will soon be presented before the court.
