Ovunda Ihunwo, an acting instructor and social media influencer, took to his social media to announce the success of his short film. He took to his social media to share that he was thrilled to share the incredible news that my short film, Paraphilia, was not only nominated but also awarded the Best Short Film category at the highly esteemed 3rd Edition of the Bayelsa International Film Festival held in the beautiful city of Yenegoa!

This recognition is an honour and a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication.

He stated that he was equally proud to announce that one of the talented actors in my film, Kenechukwu Okafor, a remarkable graduate from the renowned Department of Theatre and Film Studies at Uniport, received a well-deserved nomination and emerged as the winner of the Best Actor award in the Audience Choice Category!

He added that Kenechukwu’s exceptional skills and profound portrayal left a lasting impact on the audience’s hearts, and this accolade is a true testament to his remarkable talent.

Paraphilia delves into the profound aftermath of sexual molestation on the boy child, a subject that often goes unaddressed. Our film serves as a powerful instrument to raise awareness and remind the world that sexual molestation knows no gender boundaries.

Just as adult males have been accused of sexually molesting small girls, we must acknowledge and discuss that adult females can also be perpetrators, affecting the lives of innocent little boys.

In dedicating this award, Ovunda Ihunwo extended his heartfelt gratitude to all those courageous boys who have been silenced and unable to express their traumas.

He stated that this recognition is for them, and our film serves as a voice that speaks up on their behalf. May their stories be acknowledged, and may we collectively work towards a world free from such heinous acts.

We are immensely grateful to the Bayelsa International Film Festival for providing this platform to amplify important voices and shed light on societal issues that demand our attention. Let us continue to create meaningful dialogue, challenge societal norms, and work towards a more inclusive and compassionate world for all.
