The event served as a splendid platform to showcase Air Force Base Overberg’s remarkable flight test capabilities to a distinguished assembly of esteemed guests.

During their visit to Air Force Base Overberg, the guests, who represented the Chief of the South African Air Force and other high-ranking officials from the Department of Defence, ARMSCOR, and Denel, were given an exclusive tour of the various sections within the Test Flight and Development Centre (TFDC).

The visiting group was thoughtfully divided into smaller cohorts, each focusing on a unique aspect of Test Flight and Development Centre’s flight test activities. Some had the privilege of exploring the cutting-edge HOSFIN technology demonstrator, expertly integrated into the Agusta LUH-A109 helicopter a testament to the defence industry’s commitment to innovation and excellence.

Moreover, the visit incorporated an awe-inspiring live demonstration featuring an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) equipped with a telemetry payload meticulously designed and manufactured in-house at Test Flight and Development Centre. This state-of-the-art telemetry payload showcased a groundbreaking approach to calibrating the telemetry ground control systems at Test Flight and Development Centre, setting new standards for precision and efficiency.

The guests also had the distinct pleasure of gaining insights into a marketing support initiative for a local company currently engaged in UAV flight test trials. This collaboration underscores the dedication to fostering innovation and promoting the growth of our aerospace industry.
