The governor of the Bayelsa state, Senator Douye Diri, visited the Toru-Orua region of Bayelsa on the occasion of Christmas on December 25, 2022. While in the area, the governor of Bayelsa state called on the former governor Henry Seriake Dickson.
Governor Douye Diri appreciated the former governor for his contributions to the development of the state. The gesture was duly recognized and returned by former governor Henry Seriake Dickson.
During his visit to former governor Dickson’s town, Toru-Orua, Governor Douye Diri spoke during his Yuletide visit. He talked to the townspeople and the former governor. He also extended the greetings of the season to the former governor.
“We have come here to enjoy this season with our brother, friend, father and grandfather, and that’s all.
We have come to do, so anything anyone is saying ‘na you Sabi.’ There is nothing that can separate us. You remain our adviser.” Said, Governor Douye Diri
Further, he added, “So on behalf of myself, my family, and the government, we have come to express our gratitude and appreciation to you this season.”
He spoke about the Sagbama/Ekeremor road construction project during his visit. The governor addressed the people of Sagbama/Ekeremor during the event. He said, “There is one project that is dear to the people of Sagbama/Ekeremor, and that is the Sagbama/Ekeremor road.”
He revealed to the people that the road was under construction by the Federal Government through the NDDC for several years. Later the Sagbama/Ekeremor son took over as governor. He decided the Bayelsa State Government should now take over that road.
He revealed that “one of our key political campaigns, which he told us, was that ” look, I am bringing this our son, that this very important project will not be abandoned”. And today, we are all witnesses to the fact that the project is not left abandoned. And that is the beauty of continuity.
After the event, Senator Dickson said he was happy that his successor is doing well in the office of the governor of Bayelsa.
