Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew shared the list of ongoing projects in the twin-island Federation since he assumed the office of the Prime Minister. He expressed his commitment to work consistently and continuously for the overall development of the country.
He has shared that these projects are expected to be completed in two years, which is relatively quicker than the actual time. PM Drew took to his official social media handle (Facebook) to update the public regarding the projects undertaken by the government during his tenure.
“Keeping in mind that major projects can take up to two years, these have been achieved in relatively quick order”, added the leader of St Kitts and Nevis.
The projects which were approved since he holds the chair of Prime Minister are as follows,
- The New Hospital
The leader of the twin-island nation, also serving as a Minister of Health, kept his word and made significant strides in delivering improved and enhanced health services to the people of the country. He aims to build more hospitals to foster the healthcare sector and provide modernised medical treatment to all.
- The 2-million-gallon Desalination Plant
Recently, St Kitts and Nevis launched a Solar Powered Desalination Plant on Marc-h 20. The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by the Foreign Minister, Dr Denzil Douglas. The project has a capacity to provide up to 76000 gallons of water per day, which plays a significant role in addressing water-related problems.
- St Peter’s Main Road
PM Drew visited the Road Rehabilitation Project site at St Peter’s Main Road to cross- check the progress made since the commencement of the construction work. He ensured that heavy machinery should use to carry out their operations. The project is collaborated with Rock & Dirt Limited.
- Hotel Indigo
The construction of the Hotel Indigo has been started on January 11 in the Frigate Bay Area with a ground-breaking ceremony, attended by Dr Douglas. After the completion, the hotel will offer various job opportunities and display the island’s commitment to creative and sustainable development.
- The Solar Project
The Solar Project focuses to make the clean production of the energy for the well-being of humans and safer environment. This project will also work to reduce the nation’s dependency on the fossil fuels.
The other projects included the housing project, the performing arts centre, and the geothermal plant. This is about $1 billion in investment in EC, which will enhance the nation’s infrastructure.
Moreover, PM Drew criticised the previous government that in their tenure, they only focused on one project i.e., Prison Project.
The Prime Minister Drew pledges to work for the welfare and development of the people and the country.
