Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew attended the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Affairs’ Annual Award Ceremony 2024 on Friday. The event was held at the Royal St Kitts Hotel to honor the women who contributed to the nation in an exceptional way.Â
PM Drew added that during the event, a total of twelve women were recognized for their extraordinary work, which shaped the nation to its best.Â
The leader of the twin-island Federation took to his official social media handle (Facebook) to share an update on his visit at the awards ceremony.Â
“On March 8th, 2024, in honor of International Women’s Day, I had the privilege of attending the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Affairs’ Annual Award Ceremony at the Royal St. Kitts Hotel. It was momentous occasion where we recognized twelve extraordinary women whose contribution have truly shaped our nation”, added Prime Minister Drew.Â
Following are the women recognized for their contribution in their respective fields,Â
- Mrs Keimon Archibald-Lake – Early Childhood
- Ms Juliette Caines – Women in the Service Industry
- Ms Joycelyn Patricia Farrell – Charity and Volunteerism
- Mrs Marissa Hobson-Newman – Law and Enforcement
- Mrs Glenda Warner-Bassue – Communication/ Entertainment
- Ms Brenda Clarke- Women in Small Business
Another category was added in which the women who have exceptionally excelled in their fields were given special awards such as,Â
– Mrs Ethel Bowen was honored with the Empowerment AwardÂ
– Ambassador Rosalyn Hazelle was awarded the Legacy Award
– Ms Shorna Maynard was given the Prime Minister’s Award
Furthermore, the three outstanding 2024 Pioneering Women included Ms Alexa Douglas, who won Pioneer in Land Surveying; Ms Michelle’ Sister Sensia’ Stokes, who achieved an award of Pioneer in Deejaying/ Music & Entertainment; and Ms Cynthia Maynard, who received Pioneer in Correctional Services at Her Majesty’s Prison.Â
PM Drew expressed his delight and congratulated the winning women for their unwavering commitment to the growth of St Kitts and Nevis, as they are the reason behind the transformation of the society.Â
“As Prime Minister, I am inspired by your resilience, passion, and dedication. Let us continue to champion equality, empower one another, and build a future where every woman’s potential knows no bounds”, remarked the leader of St Kitts and Nevis.Â
Additionally, PM Drew has always remained consistent and dedicated to the upliftment of women and working continuously for women’s empowerment.Â
