Population in China is currently witnessing a downward curve. The country reached its peak population in 2022, following this, the population began to fall. The young population of the country is refusing to have children or alternately, bear more than one child. This is because people believe that they cannot afford having more than one child. To combat this situation, the experts believe that the government will introduce corrective measures for the purpose of reversing the population collapse.
On the occasion of the International Day of families, the Family Planning Association of China announced their intention to launch pilot projects in 20 cities. The association seeks to build a new-era marriage and childbearing culture. Through this, they want to create a child-bearing-friendly social environment. Under these programmes, the government will promote marriage and childbearing at appropriate ages.
The association will further encourage the couples to take equal part in the responsibility of child rearing. They will further spread education in terms of high bride prices that are prevalent in the country. The association noted that they need to fight and curb these outdated customs. The association representative made these remarks during an event held in Guangzhou.
Guangzhou and Handan in North China’s Hebei Province are some of the regions that are part of the pilot projects. These projects will take innovative and proactive measures to help develop childbearing-friendly atmospheres. The projects will further help in promoting Chinese modernization. They will take the support for the same from the high quality development of the population. The government of China introduced several family planning initiatives in the past. However, now they are not keen on keeping these initiatives up.
Since 2015, China understands that they are facing the prospect of a major decline in population. The workforce of the nation is low, meanwhile, a majority of the population is aging fast. All these factors contribute to a strain on the healthcare and other facilities of the country. Accordingly, the government of China wants to take corrective measures so as to avoid any untoward situations in the future.
